Auto Run a CygNet Excel Export Report

The Auto Run option provides a method for a report to run automatically. This allows reports to be scheduled using third-party schedulers such as Microsoft’s Scheduled Tasks.

Note: Microsoft Excel Macro Security must be set to "Enable all Macros" for Auto Run without operator intervention. See Installing and Configuring CygNet Excel Export.

Auto Run

Auto Run Parameters

Auto Run can be used by itself or with any combination of the Archive Workbook, Print Sheet, and Export Sheet options.

Parameters Description

Auto Run

When Auto Run is used alone, the following actions occur when the report is opened:

  • the data is retrieved
  • Auto Run options (Archive Workbook, Print, Export) are executed
  • MS Excel is closed.

If the Auto Run options are not enabled, Microsoft Excel will remain open after the data is retrieved.

Archive Workbook

Select to archive the entire .xls workbook. Specify the archive folder using the File Path property.

  • If the File Path property is blank, the archive will be written to the same folder from which the report was run.
  • If a File Suffix is not specified, the archive file name will be appended with the current date/time. Auto Run will be disabled in the archived .xls file.

Print Sheet

Prints the worksheet specified by Export/Print Sheet property to the default printer of the computer from which the report was run.

  • If you leave Export/Print Sheet property blank, it will print the CygNet Data worksheet.

Export Sheet

Exports the worksheet specified by Export/Print Sheet property to the folder specified by the File Path property.

  • If you leave the Export/Print Sheet property blank, it will export the CygNet Data worksheet.
  • If the File Path property is blank, the exported worksheet will be written to the same folder from which the report was run.
  • If a File Suffix is not specified, the exported file name will be appended with the current date/time.

Note: Due to a limitation in Microsoft Excel, you cannot export a worksheet that contains references to other worksheets.
